Instructor & Coaching Qualifications
Instructors retain the professional autonomy to grade students up to one grade below their own verified and accredited rank. This provides instructors with the authority to manage the progression of their students within their own club, while maintaining an appropriate level of qualification and oversight.
This approach recognises the experience and responsibility of suitably qualified instructors, while allowing clubs the flexibility to conduct regular gradings without unnecessary bureaucracy, external interference or excessive cost.
The UK Taekwondo Commission welcomes and encourages the development of courses, seminars and competitions that promote participation, learning and excellence across Taekwondo.
We are willing to sanction and support appropriate events, subject to compliance with relevant UKTKDC policies, safeguarding and safety requirements, together with the provision of appropriate approved indemnity cover.
The UK Taekwondo Commission recognises that rank alone does not guarantee safe or effective instruction or coaching. Quality of this should be measured against structured Occupational Standards of competence, providing meaningful assurance of safety, professionalism and quality.
We offer instructors access to a comprehensive coaching package with supporting training, developed through rigorous independent quality evaluation and robust management systems — giving instructors the knowledge, resources and confidence to deliver quality coaching within their own clubs
